Welcome to the Poultry Research Center!
The Poultry Research Center was officially established in 2004. The main goal of the institute is the achievement of knowledge about the biology of traditional and fancy poultry breeds, through fundamental research as well as science-based animal welfare.
There are three key topics:
- Scientific research
- Public relations
- Preservation of genetic biodiversity
The construction of the Poultry Research Center, also known as Bruno-Dürigen Institute, was supported by Rhein-Kreis Neuss and the province North Rhine-Westphalia. The current costs of the facility are covered by the German Association of Poultry Breeders.
Sponsors are always welcome and include the economic industry as well as breeders, their associates, and friends of traditional poultry breeds. The association JUWIRA (association for the support of young scientists in the research field of traditional poultry breeds) supports the scientific research at the institute.
